On last Friday, 13th September 2019, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach’s hype beachside bar and restaurant, SugarSand, host a vibrant dining event featuring UK-based award-winning Chef, Ben Spalding, to present an exciting 4-course barbecue feast completed with exquisite cocktail pairings.

Not only teaming up with SugarSand’s very own talented Executive Chef Nic Phillip, Chef Ben Spalding also rocks the dance floor with his first-ever live DJ set in Bali, spinning track after track of catchy deep-boogie house tunes.

Acclaimed London-based chef Ben Spalding runs PuzzleProjects which offers a fresh take on hospitality consultancy for all sectors, the curation and delivery of food and music events, catering and food production for corporate, public and individual clients globally and at all levels, film, design and more.

Ben brings over his fifteen years of experience and hard-earned expertise in the hospitality industry to his role. He honed his skills at some of the world’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. He was also listed as Zagat 30 under 30 and Times 100 Most Influential People. Music also plays a big part in Chef Ben’s life, another major passion of his, and he has combined his passion for both cooking and music by holding amazing high-energy dinners and parties.

Bringing contemporary and innovative Nikkei inspired menu to the guests table at SugarSand Seminyak, Chef Nic Phillip incorporates locally sourced ingredients from land and sea alike. The Australia-born lad has a wealth of experience gained at luxury resorts in the Asia-Pacific region and at leading European restaurants such as the Michelin-starred Cove Club in London and acclaimed Restaurant Taller in Copenhagen. He was listed in Singapore’s The Peak Magazine list of Top Young Chefs of 2017 and was also featured in The Bali Bible’s Top 10 Chefs of Bali.

Taking inspiration from unique Japanese ‘izakaya’ culinary culture, Chef Nic and Ben presented an exciting combination of barbeque and grill menu with a sharing concept. As for the cocktail pairings, SugarSand’s own mixologist Juni Bent is partnering with talent from the most happening speakeasy bar in Bali – 40 Thieves – to concoct inspired cocktails highlighting the locally-sourced, homemade ingredients.
