In a neighborhood dominated by heritage legends, Fairmont came hustling with a five star resort mindset from the get-go. And we’re just glad they did.
Like most luxury resorts in Bali (except those in Ubud), they need to be as close to the beach as possible. Fairmont was lucky to be able to secure a section of that prime real estate cluster, especially when everything else in the area is crowded enough. So they have the vibrant comotions of the Danau Tamblingan and Danau Poso intersection, as well as the reticent Sanur beach at their convenient expense and everything in between. You can basically walk from the hotel to the market, to Sanur’s established eateries and cultural hubs, or (obviously) to the beach. And by being located on the rear end of Sanur, this makes a trip to Bali’s Southern hotspots easier-including just mere minutes to the airport via the toll road.
Fairmont boasts a modest 120 rooms and villas for a five-star hotel-but what it lacks in quantity, it shows off in its quality. All rooms are lavish suites of six different varieties which means, they cover larger square metre areas. With selections between the lush garden view or the unobstructed ocean view from their most standard Fairmont suites to the Deluxe and Signature Spa suites, the resort really knows how to utilize what they have. Yes, ocean view is surely a favorite and much preferred, but that garden is not just a pretty face. Other than giving and outstanding interpretation for the composition of an ancient Balinese castle (complete with a pond surrounding the said “castle”), it houses Fairmont’s prized The Spa – but we’ll get to that later.
But it’s not only about size and views here. We did mention about their Signature Spa suites, and if that sounds intriguing because it is. Not only that it is an actual suite with its own spa treatment room, but Fairmont is the only one to have this type of suite in Sanur. Also, once stepping into our suite, there’s one thing that grabbed our attention (and we’re pretty sure anybody else’s): that large semi-outdoor balcony. We aren’t even sure to call it a balcony, since it’s so big we can call it our own public/guest area. It’s actually so enormous, they keep a dining table, an outdoor sofa that stretches wall to wall, the mini bar and another television are set here! And if the suites impressed us enough, imagine how will the villas do? We’ve read the factsheet and seen the pictures—so now we’re crossing our fingers for maybe another day.
Outside the rooms, you can experience Sanur’s captivating sunrise beach by strolling there or just by having an indulging dip on Fairmont’s 50 metres long infinity pool—a lazy day lounging is also understandable. But if you want to bask under the sunrise in a more intense moment, try the Sunrise Breakfast by the beach. Yet the resort also offers two restaurants with contrasting selections—Layang Layang which serves Southeast Asian cuisine and Nyala Beach Club and Grill that cooks up the best Mediterranean food in the area.
One of the best things (and one that Fairmont is very proud of) is The Spa. Located right underneath their alluring garden pond, The Spa offers nearly everything for you to be pampered and unwind from head to toe. You can choose between their signature massages (the Balinese Sanur massage and the muscle recovery massage are favourites) or other great treatments such as the coffee Bali- nese Coffee Polish or the Deluxe Mani- cure. And while the parents are having a spoiled session, the children can have the time of their lives at Fairmont’s tropical kids club. And that just sums up Fairmont Sanur for us: a complete five-star experi- ence for the whole family.
