Komaneka at Bisma is the perfect place for a truly well-deserved relaxation for your mind, body, and soul

Not many places in the world offer a timeless lifestyle the way Ubud does; where culture, religion, and art blend together to create a certain irresistible charm that has attracted many artists and artistic figures from all over the planet for decades. An idyllic village with beautiful rice terraces, with the intoxicating sounds of gamelan and serenity in the air, Ubud is a living photograph of the traditional Balinese life, nestling amidst the bustling cosmopolitan life surrounding it. But, with too many choices to choose from, where would one stay to get the complete relaxation while in Ubud? For us, Komaneka at Bisma is the only place that offers everything and more.

Located at Bisma Street, Komaneka at Bisma is nestled in the Campuhan river valley with breathtaking scenic views, sloping rice fields, and coconut groves nearby. This luxurious resort is designed as a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle destination that makes you feel at home. The iconic 33-meter lap pool is the jewel of this beautiful five-hectare resort. With 34 spacious suites and 10 elegant villas, each with its own private pool, this resort provides lodging for all kinds of guests, honeymooners or families.

Each suite and villa in this property is carefully crafted to fulfill travelers’ expectations of upscale luxury lifestyle with outstanding value surrounded by the natural beauty of Bali. Highly trained staffs are on hand to make you feel more at home. Komaneka aims to give an experience of both traditional Balinese culture and the leisure of a modern international lifestyle. Staying guests are also treated to many facilities on-site, from yoga class, Balinese dance lesson, coconut leaf craft lesson, and woodcarving lesson. And being located in the center of Ubud, everyone visiting this area has to try the award- winning spa, the Wana Jiwa Spa.

The spa is reached by descending a series of gentle stairs, passing by the resort’s iconic infinity pool. When you arrive for a treatment, you are escorted to a large and beautiful reception pavilion where the floor-to-ceiling windows open onto views of the river jungle. There you are served a refreshing herbal drink of tamarind, Java brown sugar, and a pinch of sea salt before starting the treatment you wanted. In order to get the maximum relaxation, we suggest trying the Bisma Royal Package. This is a three-hour treatment session that begins with two hours of traditional Balinese massage to improve circulation and relaxes the body. The massage oil is Komaneka Spice, a special blend created especially for Komaneka with ylang-ylang and lemongrass. The massage is combined with a treatment of steamed herbal compresses with ginger, betel leaf, tamarind, and citrus to relieve rheumatic aches and refresh the body. This is followed with a fresh papaya body mask, and finishes with a 30-minute jet milk bath.

Komaneka is a family-owned business, founded, designed, and run by a young couple from Ubud. It all began as a fine arts gallery, specializing in high-end Balinese and Indonesian art. Rooms were added as an artist’s residence, but it soon attracted visitors and the founders decided to make Komaneka a hotel. Komaneka Resorts now own several properties of boutique hotels that are located in highland Ubud and the neighboring village of Keramas beach for their first ever beach resort.

The newest addition to the Komaneka family, Komaneka at Keramas, is a boutique hotel that offers a 360-degree view of the Indian Ocean and the neighboring island of Nusa Penida and the glorious Mount Agung. Situated on a 4-hectare property, all villas have private pools and unrestricted views of the sea that sits right on the edge of beautiful black sand beach. Komaneka at Keramas is only 30-minute away from the art center of Ubud.

Komaneka is a way into the magical world of Bali. Its hospitality arises from the Balinese Hindu practice of treating their gods like honored guests, with offerings of food, flowers, music, dance, and splendor. The staffs are happy to share with resort guests their skills in woodcarving, dancing, and making offerings with free classes every afternoon. This level of hospitality didn’t go unnoticed, as they are one of the winners from TripAdvisor 2019 Travelers’ Choice Awards for being one of the Top 25 Hotels in Asia for its outstanding service. With this kind of achievement, it just shows why Komaneka at Bisma should be your home address the next time you’re in Bali.
