Re-imagines Age of Discovery by bringing her designs of the treasures of Indonesia’s flora and fauna into your life. Alongside fine art painters and master artisans, Mary Justice designs limited-edition functional fine art as furniture that brings back the Renaissance technique of painting on gesso treated wood.

“This launch collection represents the culmination of many years of living here in Bali and of my travels and research across the Indonesian archipelago. Hand-painted furniture is my background and my passion and I cannot think of a better way to express my love and admiration for the beauty of this extraordinary country and its people than to create something which celebrates this in such a way that people can also treasure it, as I do.” says Mary Justice Thomasson.

Mary Justice has been a passionate collector of decorative arts from a very young age. A new joy in the discovery of the natural world has led her to create decorative arts that bring awareness to our endangered world. After researching indigenous flora, fauna and deep-sea marine life in one of the most biodiverse parts of the world, Mary Justice Designs preserves the natural world in heirloom pieces that can be passed down for generations.

The collection has been years in the making to ensure that each piece is a sustainable, collectable work-of-art designed to immortalize the extraordinary natural beauty of a country Mary Justice has come to love.

Fine Art as Furniture is an exciting genre, combining the sophisticated gesso technique of densely layered paint with classic handmade elegant carpentry to produce unique, rare and highly collectable pieces.

Indonesia’s diverse and exotic wildlife, in many cases endangered, comes alive in an exquisite new collection of handpainted fine furniture pieces. They are designed by Mary Justice Thomasson – founder and owner of Mary Justice Designs. This is a Sustainable, limited-edition fine art as furniture.

One of the collections, an exquisite acrylic, pen and ink painting atop a wood-based 50 cms ‘Lazy Susan’ is a brilliant centrepiece for any table. It can also be used on a coffee table, ottoman or side table as a brilliant display of a functional piece of art. When spinning, the Lazy Susan recreates the famous mating dance of this cherished Papuan bird to delight table guests. (First picture above). And there are more, you fine art lovers will love to take home.
