I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
Book by Christina Lamb and Malala Yousafzai.
I Am Malala is a biography of Malala and her family who love education, and how they had to for their right to study in the midst of Taliban cruelty. Divided into sections that convey the reader’s emotions well. She talks about her family and how they live humbly in order to save up and build schools. Malala also shared about her dream of wanting to be like Benazir Bhutto: not afraid to fight for what is right. Clearly described the differences that occurred before the Taliban and after the Taliban. Not only that, Malala, who is a Muslim woman, said that the Taliban were not an example of how Muslims should be.
This book really shows that getting an education is part of human rights. It doesn’t matter what religion, gender or nationality, we all need education, and for women, having education means freedom for their future.
