Chef Assemble! Indonesia To Compete in Prestigious World Class Cooking Competition, Bocuse D’Or

After a decade ago chosen to compete in the world’s most prestigious professional chef competition, Bocuse D’Or, Indonesia will yet put its name on this years edition of the global stage. Bocuse D’Or is an international cooking competition held once every two years in the city of Lyon, France, which renowned as the nation’s gastronomic center. Bocuse D’Or often associated as an event similar to football’s World Cup or sport’s Olympic Games for culinary scene.

For this year’s competition, Indonesia will be represented by Chef Mandif Warokka and Nugraha Lutfi of Blanco Par Mandif, Ubud, Bali. Chef Mandif himself is no stranger for international culinary competition. He has been competing several times in international stage, and even won a Gold Medal in Salon Culinaire Dubai tournament 2005. The Indonesian team will be trained by Chef Chris Salans of critically-acclaimed Mozaic fine dining restaurant in Ubud, Bali, and also chef Gilles Marx, the president of Bocuse D’Or Indonesia and owner of Amuz Gourmet Jakarta. Chef Gilles had trained Indonesian team when they compete in Lyon back in 2011.

“In my (young) 21st age, it is a great honor to participate in the prestigious event as a commis for Indonesian team, along with chef Mandif” said Nugraha Lutfi. Indonesian team coach Chef Chris Salans also expressing his pride to see the significant achievement of Indonesian chefs after 20 years living in the country. He is confident that now the Indonesian chef has the capability to compete in international event such as Bocuse D’Or.

“To be chosen for entering the final of Bocuse D’Or 2021 in Lyon has reflected the current capacity of Indonesian chef” said Chef Gilles Marx. “After brought the Indonesian team to Lyon 10 years ago, I am now ensured that Indonesia has been ready once again to aim a place in the podium, at the world’s most prestigious cooking competition” he concludes.

The Indonesian team opens up the chance for everyone to take part in their effort by donating through their official Bocuse D’Or Team Indonesia account at KitaBisa fundrising website. All gathered fund will be allocated for the team’s logistic and operational cost during the competition.
